Accessibility

We want this site to work for everyone, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, or a browser set to reduce motion. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

• every image carries alternative text, or is marked decorative
• every form field has a real label, and errors are announced to screen readers
• text is designed to meet WCAG AA contrast against its background
• everything reachable by mouse is reachable by keyboard, with a visible focus outline
• a skip link jumps past the navigation
• headings run in order, and landmarks mark out the page structure
• animation and the scroll story calm down for anyone whose system asks to reduce motion

The home page's scroll story is a visual experience; every chapter's text is real text that screen readers read, and with reduced motion it becomes a sequence of still pictures. The before/after comparisons can be operated with arrow keys as well as by dragging. Our videos have no soundtrack and carry no spoken information. Our PDF downloads have not been through a full accessibility review — if you need anything from one in another format, ask and we will send it.
